PCI
Gen is a companion card to our RST PRO2 card. With both cards
installed in a target PC, the PCI Gen allows for a comprehensive
system memory Bus testing. While the RST Pro2 tests for memory
failures and incompatibilities, PCI Gen runs specific Bus loading
and RAM testing. The PCI Gen generates memory transfers without
CPU intervention using direct PCI to memory controller access.
Under normal operation, data moves in a pattern from PCI Bus to
CPU to RAM and back to the PCI Bus. Without the use of PCI Gen
it is very difficult to detect problems that may occur when the
PCI Bus is communicating directly with RAM under heavy Bus load.
If you are
building servers, PCI Gen will help to isolate and verify design
problems between image capture devices and system memory, these
types of errors are very difficult to pin-point. However, PCI
Gen will isolate these problems quickly because it can put the
system through similar tasks.
If you are
making or building workstations, PCI Gen will help you to isolate
problems that are caused by enormous memory transfers. For example,
problems that cause Video Capture and SCSI device failures. PCI
Gen's main function is to load the Bus with traffic using Bus
master device for data transfers. This load can cause memory noise
on the memory controller thus affecting the memory sub-system.
PCI Gen automates this testing process for full and proper system
validation. |
