PC
Inspector is an advanced POST card for multi-function testing of AT
286 through Pentium systems (including the new Pentium III and Celeron,
Cyrix M2 and AMD K5, K6, K6-3D, K7 processors, including MMX technology).
The card provides users with visual digital indicators for identifying
POST error codes, monitoring power supply voltages and system bus
signals, and detecting IRQ and DMA conflicts. Further, the card has
an "on-board" Flash ROM for testing system peripherals.
When installed
into any standard I/O slot, the PC Inspector will monitor the systems
Power On Self Test (POST). The card monitors POST codes at 80, 84,
90, 190, and LPT ports. When POST detects an error, the test sequence
is halted at the failing test error code. PC Inspector supports all
BIOS's that output POST error codes.
The card's on-board
LED's monitor most system signals and power supply voltages. The card
has 4 LED's for monitoring the 5, -5, 12, -12 voltages within 5%.
If any voltages are not present, the LED will fail to light up, clearly
indicating the errant voltage. Power supply information is also routed
to the screen to display exact reading of each voltage line. On-Board
LED's continuously test System Clock, Oscillator, Address Latch Enable,
CHCHK, CHRDY, AEN, RESET, and Watch-Dog signals.
The final set
of LED's tests for IRQ and DMA conflicts. By initializing any peripheral
using an IRQ or a DMA line, an LED lights up corresponding to the
used DMA or IRQ line. The card makes it easy to determine if cards
are sharing or conflicting on a particular IRQ or DMA line. This card
is excellent for tracking DMA and IRQ information for old and obsolete
peripherals.
For advanced testing
of "completely dead" systems using an oscilloscope, users
may attach PC Inspector's reset line to the motherboard's reset jumper.
The reset is activated every 2 seconds.
Finally, the card
is equipped with a Flash ROM for testing system peripherals. The ROM
automatically loads after the successful completion of POST. Some of
the tests that are performed: Base, Extended and Cache Memory, Hard/Floppy/EIDE
CD ROM drives, Serial/Parallel Ports, Keyboard, CMOS RAM & RTC,
Video Cards, I/O Port Monitor, System Configuration, Extensive Burn-In,
and more. All diagnostics are run from ROM. No disks are needed.
Product Features:
- Monitors
POST - Monitor Power On Self Test error codes output
by system BIOS during pre-boot. Ports 80, 84, 85, 90, 190, 378,
2F8 and 3BC are all supported.
- Power Supply
Testing -
Monitors all four power supply voltages +12, -12, +5, -5. Results
are viewed using on-board LEDs. NEW FEATURE - Display POWER results
on SCREEN as a Multi-Meter.
- Easy to Use - Card simply installs into any open ISA or EISA
slot.
- Signal Testing - Monitors important system signals including:
S-CLK, OSC, ALE, CHCHK, CHRDY, AEN, RESET, WD-R and WD-G.
- System Level
Diagnostics - Allows testing of RAM, Drives, Keyboard, Video,
Serial & Parallel Ports, Monitor and Printers.
- Comprehensive
Memory Testing - For Base, Extended, Cache and Video Memory.
- Flash ROM
Technology - Upgrading the on-board ROM is simple. The upgrading
process is fully automated with board design.
- Advanced System
Debugging - Allows the card to be used in conjunction with
other tools such as: Oscilloscopes, Logic Probes, etc. for isolating
critical system failures.
- Small Compact
Design - The card is excellent for "On-Site testing."
Its rugged design allows the card to be safely carried in any tools
case.
- Automated
Testing - Allows for complete system testing in less than
10 minutes. Software may be set to run Burn-In mode for any group
of tests.
- O/S Independent - Runs complete system diagnostics without loading
any operating systems, TSRs, drivers or any other programs which
reside in memory.
- Data Logging - Users may print results of the "on-board"
diagnostics for maintaining records and tracking of systems tested.
- POST Codes
on Disk - POST errors codes are easily viewed by using
PC Inspectors reference disk.
- Burn-In Testing - Users may choose from an extensive list of tests
and the duration for Burn-In testing. This information may be saved
in a script file for later use.
- Continuous
Testing - Affords testing on intermittent problems and
verify function of repaired devices.
