1. How do I make a back up of the software?
The easiest way to make a back up us to use the disk copy command under DOS. If you not aware of this command, please contact tech support for a walk through.
2. What type of memory does RST support and test?
Depending on the version of the software you have, the latest version will test all modules including PC133, DDR RAM and RDR RAM.

3. My RST disk does not run burn-in mode?
If you wish to run RST in auto burn-in mode, simply boot the software. Once the software is loaded, select Extended RAM and press enter. Now, simply select the tests you wish to perform and press the F10 key. This will save a script on the disk. Then write protect the diskette and reboot the system.
4. What do failures mean?
When RST detects a failures it means one of three things happened: The memory module is defective.
The memory module is not compatible with your system.
The motherboard, BIOS and RAM modules are having trouble communicating properly.
The motherboard may be defective .
5. How do I know if these failures are accurate?
Many memory manufacturers are presently using the software extensively. We have run extensive test on the software to make it is compatible with most systems on the market. At the present time, we are not aware of any compatibility issue with any system. If RST detects a failure, rest assured you have a memory problem that needs to be addressed.

6. Does RST test the ECC bit?
RST does not have a specific test for the ECC bit. However, if you have ECC memory, you can run the software with and without the ECC bit enabled. If RST detects single bit failures with the ECC bit turned off, then when ECC is enabled that failure should disappear. If the failure persists, there could be a problem in the implementation of the ECC system. Talk to the motherboard maker and see if they are aware of the problem, make sure you have ECC memory, and finally make sure you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard.

9. Does RST test PC133 memory modules?
Yes, RST will test all PC 133 memory modules in both Intel and AMD platforms. In fact, RST users will detect memory failures and compatibility problems easier and faster with RST that any other software.
10. Do I get free upgrades?
No, we do not offer free upgrades; the normal cost of the upgrade is $49.00 to $69.00.
11. How do I change the refresh timing?

12. RST always fails my memory?
There are many RAM modules that are not compatible with some systems. If you have errors that you can't eliminate, try changing to a different brand of memory. Some motherboard also have problems with the number of modules installed, try reducing the number of modules installed.

13. Does RST test the 1 meg memory hole reserved for my video card?
No, it does not, you need to disable this feature in your BIOS, if you are unable to disable this function, you may need to reduce the amount of memory being tested by RST. You can do this by reducing the "to address" listed in the main diagnostic screen.

14. Do I have the latest version of the software?
The latest version of R.S.T. is 4.42.

15. How can I protect my software from viruses?
To protect your disk, we recommend that the disks be write protected at all times. We also recommend that you use back up disks so if you ever think the disk is infected, simply throw it away. We have taken the extra sets to protect against this by making certain files read only or hidden but you can never be 100% safe. It is recommended that you take careful measures when using the software on un-known systems.
16. Does RST generate reports?
Yes, you can use the print feature built into the software. This will print a report that details the tests run and the results of the diagnostics.
17. I am a memory manufacturer, can the RST help me?
Yes, many memory manufacturers are using RST to determine memory problems. In many cases RST has out performs stand-alone memory testers. It is fast and easy and most importantly extremely effective.
18. Does the software come on a CD ROM?
Normally the software is provided on a floppy disk. However, if you desire to run the software from CD ROM, we can provided as such for a nominal cost. Ask you sales representative for details.
